We are in the final months of 2020. Based on how this year has gone, we won’t blame you if you are ready for 2021 to begin.
Regardless of how this year has gone so far, we want to help you end it with a smile. Specifically, we want to help you close the year with a healthy smile. To do that, you should schedule a professional dental cleaning and exam at Isaacs Family Dental. To make your appointment at our Indianapolis, IN dental office, call 317-298-3384 now.
Why Professional Checkups Are Good For You
With oral health as with your overall health, it’s best to prevent problems before they start. It’s why the American Dental Association recommends having a daily oral care routine at home.
To keep your teeth in good shape, you want to clean your teeth twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a pea-sized dab of toothpaste. Scrub your teeth for two minutes each time, making sure you clean them on all sides.
As well as that works, you also need to clean the spaces between your teeth and gums. This is why the ADA recommends flossing daily as well. You can use dental floss, flosser, or water flossers to do this. (Unfortunately, surveys show that less than half of all Americans actually do this daily, however.)
The truth is that none of us are perfect about our oral care routines. This is one reason the ADA recommends regular dental checkups as well. We are here to support your efforts to keep your smile looking good and your mouth as healthy as it can be.
During a professional cleaning, our team removes tartar and plaque buildup as well as any food particles you may have missed with your daily brushing and flossing. Plaque turns into tartar when it hardens. This can lead to cavities as well as gum infections. While you are in our chair, we will be watching for any signs of these problems. We want to treat them today rather than treating a tooth infection or periodontal disease or replacing a tooth down the road.
Don’t Lose Your Benefits … or Your Smile
We want to say up front that we encourage everyone to get a dental cleaning who has not had one in the past six months. With that caveat, getting one before the end of the year is something everyone with dental insurance should strongly consider.
Most dental plans are designed to encourage preventive care. As such, most policies will cover all or most of the cost of routine cleanings and exams. (Be sure to check your plan for details.) It’s also true that most policies provide benefits within a given period of time, which generally coincides with the calendar year. In other words, you could be missing out on one of the key benefits of having dental insurance if you don’t take advantage of this.
If you don’t have dental insurance, we have a variety of payment options, including our in-house dental membership plan. This gives you a convenient way to manage the cost of preventive care and keep your smile in great shape.
