BONDING &
WHITE FILLINGS
Bonding is a popular method to enhance the aesthetics of your smile. Bonding can be used to correct cracks or gaps in teeth, as a filling after a cavity has been removed, or to cover up stains or discolored teeth.

A composite resin is used on the affected tooth or teeth. It is molded and sculpted over an adhesive gel that is placed on the tooth. After the resin has been applied an ultraviolet light is used to harden the resin, which is then polished to give you a fresh, new smile.

Bonding is an obvious improvement over unsightly silver amalgam fillings. With the advancements in dental technology, bonding usually lasts for over 10 years. It is a safe, affordable, and attractive solution for many dental problems.
FLUORIDE
Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in many foods and water. Every day, minerals are added to and lost from a tooth's enamel layer through two processes, demineralization and remineralization. Minerals are lost (demineralization) from a tooth's enamel layer when acids -- formed from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth -- attack the enamel. Minerals such as fluoride, calcium, and phosphate are redeposited (remineralization) to the enamel layer from the foods and waters consumed. Too much demineralization without enough remineralization to repair the enamel layer leads to tooth decay.

Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in themouth. It also reverses early decay. In children under 6 years of age, fluoride becomes incorporated into the development of permanent teeth, making it difficult for acids to demineralize the teeth. Fluoride also helps speed remineralization as well as disrupts acid production in already erupted teeth of both children and adults.
WHITENING
This is the procedure of making teeth whiter, and therefore more attractive. Our office uses several methods: Passive tray whitening, and professional strength white strips.

The tray method involves having impressions taken from which laboratory fabricated custom vinyl trays are made. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 3 hours, or overnight. The entire process takes 3-4 weeks of daily use. Three different strengths of gel may be used, however the higher the strength the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take several months of use to see significant color improvement. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be used every several months.

The end result is a whiter brighter smile! Ask us at your next appointment.

BIOLASE
A new and wonderful era in dentistry has begun. Our high-tech office is pleased to offer this state-of-the-art technology to our patients.  Lasers are an amazing new technology for the dental office
Lasers have the capability to:

  • Perform gum surgery without the need for needles and no bleeding or stitches, being able to eat, drink and talk right after surgery with no discomfort.
  • Fill teeth without the need for needles, being able to eat and talk and chew right after fillings.
  • Remove decay from small fillings and replace them with the natural color of your tooth.
  • Perform dentistry without the need for a drill!
  • Sterilize your restoration and gum tissue as it is healing
DIAGNODENT
The Diagnodent helps detect dental caries at the earliest possible stage so that the most appropriate treatment can be presented to you.

Diagnodent is a fluorescent laser that finds cavities which lie beneath the surface of the tooth. There are often cavities that x-rays and the explorer do not find. This advanced technology helps to preserve a greater amount of your tooth structure by uncovering dental decay before it progresses too far.

PEDIATRICS
Most children should see the dentist around the age of three. However, if you notice any problems with your child’s teeth, we encourage you to contact us sooner. Our first order of business is to make sure that your child feels comfortable and one of our caring staff will show him or her around the office explaining the sights and sounds. For our youngest patients, a children’s dentistry visits consist of a quick but thorough check for cavities and a lesson on good brushing techniques.

Kids will begin receiving our Carmel family dentistry practice’s complete children’s dentistry regimen around ages 4-5, including X-rays and professional hygiene.
INTRAORAL CAMERA
The Intraoral Camera is an amazing diagnostic tool for viewing different angles in the mouth that we would not have been able to just a few years ago. The camera gives us the ability to view the entire mouth on a monitor so that we can get a closer look at any potential issues or problems that may arise. In addition, the patient will have the ability to see for themselves first hand the same images we are seeing. These digital images are also excellent for gaining procedure acceptance from insurance companies.

RADIOGRAPHS
Digital x-rays are quickly becoming adopted by a large percentage of the dental industry. A digital x-ray allows the dentist to take an image of the tooth or teeth and put it into an imaging program. Within this imaging program, there are a number of tools that will allow the dentist to take a very close look at the teeth and surrounding structures with amazing accuracy. As a benefit to the patient, the digital x-ray also provides nearly 80% less radiation than a standard x-ray. This is due to the fact that the digital version of the x-ray is much more sensitive to this radiation and has been specifically designed with the patient in mind.

MOUTH GUARDS
Custom-made mouthguards and dental appliances are more comfortable and superior in protection and function than over-the-counter products you fit yourself at home. We offer a number of mouthguards and dental appliances, which require two appointments with us. During the initial appointment, impressions are taken of your teeth. These impressions are used to fabricate your custom mouthguard or appliance, which is usually available in one to two weeks (follow-up appointment).
